Local Lisp

Spring fever? Whatever it is, lispers seem to have suddenly decided it's a good idea to gather in bars and pubs across the world for drinking, smoking, ogling and talking lisp. You know, the usual vices.

Dan Barlow has set up a section of the ALU website to coordinate these drunken lispfests. Currently there are pages for New York, the San Francisco Bay area, Seattle, London, Mumbai City and CERN.

Not smoking. In this area (SF), smoking in bars is forbidden, thankfully (cause it means I'll attend one of these things).

In NYC smoking is not verboten as of yet, ...no comment on the drinking on ogling.

Really, its been a great time, it's very empowering to meet local folks "just like you" who don't look at you like a freak when you mention Lisp.

Even though smoking in bars is illegal in California, and the law is *usually* followed, I have been in a couple where people were smoking. And I have to say, the fact that it's illegal really did seem to add a slight bit of excitement to the whole thing--and I don't even smoke.
