Another newcomer to Lisp: Lisp at Light Speed
Posted by jjwiseman at March 07, 2005 09:21 PMOne of the “onions” (Paul Graham's wonderful phrase) of Lisp is IF. There are multiple problems: First, IF only allows one form for both the then-form and else-form. That means you have to introduce ugly progn forms to group multiple statements. How this got past the ANSI committee I'll never know
That is the most horrible, unholy pair of abominations ever to terrorize the Lispscape.
May they wither away into nothingness, and thereby improve drastically.

Kudos, brucio! :-)
Posted by: on March 7, 2005 10:35 PMno offence meant, but is the lightspeed guy completely clueless?
Posted by: . on March 8, 2005 02:25 AMThat's just scary.
Posted by: Larry Clapp on March 8, 2005 06:54 AMsure hope that was meant to be funny.

Posted by: bondowine on March 8, 2005 09:08 AMCheck out this earlier version of the parody from Zach Beane:
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:Sh4h5IMwvNIJ:www.xach.com/lisp/lisp-blog.txt
It redirects you to Lisp at Light Speed now, but the text is the same.
Posted by: Peter Scott on March 8, 2005 11:04 AMIt was funnier as that text file.
Posted by: Tayssir John Gabbour on March 8, 2005 05:03 PMThe if problem is fixed in Arc.
