Just read the chapter on macros. Good writing style. When I'm reading books, I often wonder about "alternate universe" scenarios, like when he mentions how lisp machines defined macros. There's often too much sweeping obsolete designs under the rug. It was very refreshing when the Aho et al compiler book mentioned how tedious parser writing was before the Chomsky hierarchy was used.

I wonder though if mentioning stuff like Java's log4j dates the book. Probably doesn't matter. I know I wasn't a big fan of log4j, and the example spoke to me.
