I took this picture when I fell in the tank and thought I was a goner. For one beautiful moment I made peace with the idea that my lungs were about to fill with water and I was destined to become nothing more than a home for hagfish, lying at the bottom of this serene kelp forest. Then I remembered I still had to mail back some CDs my friend Jill left at my apartment when she visited from Oakland.
